This piece is an experiment using the "reaction mold" method of iron casting. The mold is made with wood. When molten iron is poured inside the wooden mold it reacts with the moisture in the wood giving the finished cast iron piece a unpredictable outcome. The top of this piece is solid cast iron using this mold technique and the bottom was made using wood similar to the wood mold to form a tower.
