"Sitting Monolith"
2005
Habelblock
5' x 4' 7" x 2 '
This large carving was part of the international sculpture conference I was a part of in the summer of 2005. This was carved in Luganuse, Estonia from habelblock.
The idea behind this piece is that the figure is not making good use of his head. He is not using it for constructive or beneficial purposes. So instead, he simply uses it as a stool.
The man heading this carving symposium in Estonia had say on where all these large-scale carvings were displayed. "Sitting Monolith" was sat in front of the main governmental building in Estonia. The title "Sitting Monolith" was changed to Estonian explaining (to the government) to use their heads for something better than stools.

Donated to the Estonian people of Luganuse. Now sits in front of the City Hall.
